    Hi all,

We built a new build on a narrow lot (10m x 40m) in North Brisbane and at the time of the build had a carport which was to be built to the front and side boundary knocked back.

As it stands we only have driveway parking as we needed what would normally be garage area for use as a family day care which my wife operates.

These approvals were previously being allowed in Brisbane when we designed the home, however in recent years they have been declining them unless there's an example on your street.

Is there anyone on this forum that has had any success in getting something like this across the line in recent times? We managed to get the cross over approved so it's literally just the actual carport.

Other questions which we are considering or would be useful to know are:
    - Is there any designs which anyone has seen that utilises a patio for half the carport that would allow us to consider this as a single carport and patio?
    - What are the possible/ likely implications of building the carport unapproved? (we did have all neighbours approvals)

Thanks for reading and appreciate any responses.

    Craig

Do you mean that your building commences at the front setback and now you want to add a carport within the setback area? Does BCC currently allow this ?

Best option is to ring around a few private certifiers and find a pragmatic one who will be able to assist :)

I presume you want to build a double carport. A single carport (maximum width of 3m) would be accepted development (no DA required) so you will just need building approval for this.

What do you mean your carport was "knocked back"? Did you lodge a DA for this and Council refused this?

On a small lot, either a single double carport would also be considered prescribed accepted development. Not sure why you need a DA.

I'm suprised you were allowed a 7m setback. That would normally require a relaxation.
