+1 for take the flexibility now to have family time. You'll likely regret it if you don't....

You still have plenty of time for a career change in a few years. You could even start reskilling part time once the kids are bit older.

Stick with your current plan! Plenty of time for career moves.
Plenty of great advice above and sounds like you're on your way.

I took "time off" to be a stay at home dad and when i did go back to work i had an interview and my time "away from work" came up as a potential issue (or salary play) and i told them i didn't want the job! I ended up finding a better job with great people! don't stress about "career advancement" or becoming stagnant.... it's BS imo. You're on pause. If anything, kids teach you so much more! They'll run you off your feet and improve your time management and planning abilities!

Sounds like you're on a great wicket now. Enjoy it!

Im in exactly the same position. 7 years same role. Baby on the way. No opportunities to grow career at current workplace. But great flexibility and security at current job.

My suggestion would be to do what you said. Suck it up. You got a family to focus on now. Find growth there. At the very least during these early years of their lives.

All jobs suck in some way. Thats why they pay you money to do them. As a general rule you get paid for things you dont like and you pay for things you do like.

Stop this grass is greener in a new career bs. Invest your time and energy into your family instead.

This sounds sad until you find out that Mikey is a hit man.
