    You should be able to get a Hyundai or Kai for that price with a few years new car warranty on it. They are very reliable. Avoid VW the DSG transmissions are very unreliable and expensive to fix.

    I'll third Toyota Corolla. Cheap, reliable as hell, and hold their value. Turbo diesel Golfs are also very good, super comfy to drive, just don't break anything.

    Corollas are bulletproof and I loved mine for the 7 years I owned it. However, with the criteria of:

    Auto,
    Can carry 4 adults comfortably.

    I don't see the Rolla in an auto as an okay choice for 4 adults personally.

    Of course it will "work" but I think a bigger vehicle would be better, possibly a mini SUV or more of a mid family sized car.

    Probably. My other car is my 12 year old 2004 Subaru impreza GX. I bought it new and only has 132000km on it.

    I second to this.
    although grab a V6 if you want a bit more power.
