We know where the USA is, how many Americans know where Australia/Austria is?

PS Watched a documentary earlier this week about the medical profession in New Jersey who did their utmost to stop the spread of covod19, all in vain because of one lunatic. I feel for the Americans ... :(

Yeah the US is great for Mexican and other Central American cuisine if that's your thing. It's probably the one cuisine we really lack down under.

Another thing I like about the States is the diversity of the natural scenery and beautiful towns they have.

Where did you get this from?? Not correct

County Taxes will vary dependent on State, most I pay is around $2500 pa, cheapest $800

Similar to what I pay in Australia, council rates

Not many:p and would not have a clue who our PM is. But it really wont make a difference to my life.

I did post a link recently on protestors in Melb, we are not immune to nutters in Australia, delusional if you think we are. Probably every country in the world has a few

Maybe it is just us, but we were pretty underwhelmed by New York City. Obviously it had plenty of highlights, but the overpasses, roads and general grubby feel of many places in the city were not what we expected. We also were disappointed in the trouble we had to find little cafes for a quick light meal and coffee as we walked miles and miles each day. We were in the city though, so perhaps suburbs had more to offer.

We found the people less than welcoming (not everyone of course) and anyone in a uniform (even at the entrance to a landmark) seemed to think they could do or say what they liked, with as much attitude as they could muster. That uniform made them feel very powerful it seemed.

If I had to choose somewhere to live in the US it would be San Francisco all the way (though there were so many homeless people there the last time we visited, it didn't feel as nice as the first visit).

We've done that once (in the markets). Never again. But thanks for the thought.

As regards living in the US. I lived there for a year as a high school exchange student, so obviously a loooong time ago. Tertiary education was much more of a thing in the US at that time than it was in Australia, but student debt for tertiary education was still a big thing, as it is now. It can be a huge burden. A member of a family I stayed with did a course in a medical area, but could not find a job anywhere when he graduated, with heavy repayments due. He committed suicide.

Unfortunately have never had good Mexican meal in Australia. Its not authentic. Southern States in US are brilliant at this.

My highlight in New York was watching a show on Broadway. I love New York.

The other Washington. South of Seattle, before it was famous.

How long ago was that? Was it related to politics in some way?

There are some good places here and there.

But "authentic" can mean different things to different people. There is a huge regional variation in Mexican food. I've heard that it's the world's third most varied, after China and India.
