In cities that have solid CCTV footage everywhere (such as London) in case anyone decides to play up... I am surprised anyone is allowed to conceal their identity, whether it be through religious attire, ski mask, halloween costume or whatever. I suppose the challenge is a motorbike rider is required by law to wear a helmet when riding, and that makes it hard to be identified, though in theory they can be ID'd via the license plate on the bike.

I'm all for our country, our laws regardless of what religious beliefs anyone has . If i have a religious practice/belief etc and i know it violates the law of the land I chose to live in, I would just respect the country's law and adapt to it/move countries rather than trying to impose my will on another nation .

That's what ****** off so many Australians I suspect .

Well personally I don't care what people want to do and their motivations why, as long as they don't act in a way that allows them to believe they are above the law.

Absolutely. If a particular group is not happy with certain laws then by all means repeal and replace . But until that law is changed, respect that it is the current law which is most likely reflecting what the majority of society values at this point in time.

    just my opinion only.

Agree. I might not have been clear enough though; I was referring to the Burqa wearers (and their partners) coming in and trying to replace the existing law with Sharia.

perhaps like a lot of 'collective abstract nouns' they dont have a pan international hierarchical centrally organised appointed media affairs spokesperson that accurately and effectively conveys their collective thoughts on the subject?

    Just a thought

Why should the 'gays' have anything to say about the burqa?

    I hate the word "ban"

Just ban it, create a law against other people doing things we perceive as not ok or are uncomfortable with.

I think we should ban banning things

And speaking of Burqas- I just found these during a spring clean today. They were posted to my grandmother from her brother, who was training in Egypt in December 1914. Egypt 3.jpg Egypt 1.png Egypt 2.jpg

Edit: In the postcard, my great uncle said that all Egyptian women were dressed like this. In modern photos, it seems the hijab is common, the burqa not at all.

In other postcards, it's not at all common to see people with bare feet, although there's more pictures of men than of women.

I wasn't identifying any group in particular for their views on the Burqa. It was a slightly off the main topic post - still in the theme of Islam - in response to the feminist reform of Islam.

It was to do with its attitudes towards and treatment of both gays and women. I often hear comment on why they (both groups) are so silent about this.

As I said; that both the women (feminists in particular) and gay groups - for some reason - seem to be very silent when it comes to speaking up about how they are persecuted (and worse) by Islam....it is a very common thing on various news media platforms that everyone can watch and hear.

I don't get you. Women and gay groups are silent so I should go on various media platforms to hear what they are silent on?
