What are your thoughts on the approved zoo at Bungarribee Park, Blacktown?
Not sure if it's a good thing for the area or not. I suppose the attraction will provide more jobs, however what impacts could this have on the property market for the surrounding suburbs?

As long as datto don't go around chasing the emu for a ride....

I think there will be neutral impact on property economic. Me thinks there may be more airbnb attraction to Sydney west? Traditionally tourist family will stay in the city and take a day trip to the mountains, now maybe opt for airbnb in west. Hop of badger creek airport and go wet n wild, the zoo and Mt Druitt ? There is also talk of re-spin of old wonderland site.

The thing good about west is when they talk about these sort projects, they actually do happen

It's only 16 hectares though so a little more than half the size of Taronga. Not sure if it'll be a game changer. A Disneyland would have been though.

Eventually Taronga zoo will closed and sold to developers.

We bought an NRAS townhouse in Bungarribee. Only change I can see is when you tell people you own property in Bungarribee they might know where it is now... ;)

i live in Bungarribee. not sure how i feel about the zoo. i just hope it doesnt scare away/kill off all the wildlife living in the surrounding parklands. I see deer & kangaroos often when i walk through there in the mornings.

This and - It's a 36 million dollar zoo. $36 million doesn't buy you much. A lot of warehouse around there cost more than that to build.

Well as Datto said, they'll probably fill it with exotic animals not stocked in other zoos - feral house cats, staffys, etc.

And guess what, $36 million will be spent on a metal fence to keep them in situ. Then a banner called Western Sydney Zoo will go up. Opening day within 2-3 months. Done.

i walk my dogs from bunya estate to the dog park every morning. i see them around the parklands. there are some white deer and quite a few grey kangaroos. they come up to the borders of our estate. one time i was walking home and there was a stag standing on the path blocking my way. couldnt get a pic because my dogs barked at him and he ran away.

My main concern is, and it will happen, bogans will use the zoo as a short cut home in the early hours of a Saturday morning:

No doubt these incredible beasts will end up with severe gastro every week. lol.

Someone once threw a used Billy over my fence and my dog drank the water in it. He was stumbling around high for a while afterwards and was hankering for munchies
