Hmmm... advertise my place with miniature temples?
    What a great idea....

    Umm... No.
Some interesting artwork could be nice though.

Am I the only one who thinks a temple is OK in the backyard, not for me but......

I suppose not too much adds value in a backyard unless it's a granny flat.

Contrary to what people think pools do not necessary add value and can limit your market.

I think it is an interesting idea if you had dead space (as in unusable for practical purposes ;) ) in the backyard.
Having said that, I still love this thread....

Yes I think a great thread and fun, so many ideas on this thread I may also build a temple, or perhaps a temple pizza oven...:)

Sure, pools may not necessarily be a deal breaker but it sure is a better proposition than a miniature temple in my books.

I think that it will polarize potential buyers. Pools do too. At least this is easier to remove but it sounds like an expensive "folly" and won't add any value in my opinion. As long as it can be built at little cost and can be easily removed by a future buyer there is no harm.

If it is big, takes up garden space and difficult or expensive to remove, I believe a buyer will want a discount on asking price to allow it to be removed (depending on so many other things of course, market at time of selling being major one).

How can it not add value?? This is an amazing spiritual journey which will benefit many people. If people want to smash his dreams you really need to step back and ask the lord... Am I decent person to be grazing on this earth?

Recently a Buddhist group bought an old church in newtown for $2.5m. There's money in religion, and a little corruption
Crumbling church in Newtown sells for $2.55 million at auction

I think the temple exercise costings round $1500, I am getting costings for a pool starting at 30,000k.

I agree, but this is someone's interest/hobby, can't put a value on the joy this may give

I get that, but it still is going to polarise potential buyers. It seems one purpose for building it is to "add value". I don't think it will add any value at all, probably the opposite. It is not my decision, but seeing the question was asked...

I agree, it may turn some buyers off.
I guess I was looking at it as more of hobby, but at the end of the day if you are trying to add value, there are probably better ways, but I cant think of any at $1500, perhaps a workshop??

I'd say topdressing the current lawn, or saving the $1500 altogether... :D.

I always think one of the cheapest make overs is a coat of paint, but that's another story. :)

    Now in regards to temple.
Will it have any religious intentions? I see potential for it to become the "third temple". Also will sacrificing that take place? Specifically schechita? Perhaps @darlinghurstsboy has some tips being a man of the cloth? Or better yet see if Moshe is free to come around and slaughter a dove for smoko??
This could be the best avenue to get it passed council ;)
