Hi all, Building Townhouses and having a number of issues with our builder. Decided to chase up the Building Inspection reports with our Building Surveyor. Noted that the first 6 of the inspections had been conducted by the Builder's engineer. When we found out that the builder had engaged his own engineer to do the first inspection , we told him that he was to contact our Building Surveyor for all future inspections. We had already prepaid all of our Building Surveyors inspections and we wanted an independent person not associated with the builder to do the inspections. Obviously, the builder did not listen to us and continued to use his own engineer without our approval. Can he do this? Is this legal?
Provided that the surveyor accepts the inspection by the engineer (he has laid off his risk/exposure on the groundworks, slab, framing/brickwork).
Really, I thought the law had changed recently in that builders could not appoint their own people to do inspections without our approval.
