Building a garage without a setback

    I am considering buying a property, yet this property lacks every mans needs... as garage. There is room on the side of the house, however, when a car is parked there today it pushes to the edge of the fence line. So while it would adhere to the set back of the front and back requirements the 900mm side setback to the property perimeter is something that just could not be accomplished in this case. I am wondering have people been able to put DA's in and successfully accomplished this?

    If so what hoops did you need to jump through? If it helps this is in NSW, specifically the Randwick council.
