If Toowoomba is a country town, then these are villages.

Toowoomba is basically bigger than Goulburn, Wagga and Orange, all added together.

Toowoomba is basically 15% to 20% bigger than Bendigo and Ballarat individually.

And I said cooler temperatures, not freezing temperatures. Old people would NOT want to retire to freezing places like Goulburn, Orange, Bendigo, and Ballarat.

Guessing you're from NSW or VIC...

Yeah ok- still don't get it. But I'll just take your word for it that the baby boomers are going to head straight past all the beautiful coastal spots along the way from VIC to QLD to get to sunny old Toowoomba. Sounds legit:rolleyes:

You will find that's Toowoomba Regional Council - NOT Toowoomba. TRC stretches some 200km. Toowoomba itself (being approx the old Toowoomba City Council area pre amalgamation) would be lucky to be 115k.

Having spent 7 years in Toowoomba and 11 years in Bendigo, I can assure you, nothing is colder than the icy easterlies roaring up from the Lockyer Valley on a cold night - Bendigo is the Sahara compared to old t-ba....

Your overall point has merit, but please don't exaggerate...

The point I was making was that Toowoomba was a lot bigger than all the other retiree towns/villages in Inov8ive's list.

One of the towns they mentioned was your beloved Bendigo. It has a population of 90k; even using a population for Toowoomba of 115k, then Toowoomba is 30% larger than Bendigo.

    Sorry , I exaggerate. Toowoomba is 27.7777777777778% larger than Bendigo :) :).

    You gotta be kidding.
Let's look at what the BoM states is the mean minimum and maximum temperatures (°C) for both places:

    Annual

    Bendigo: 8.9°C and 20.4°C
    Toowoomba: 11.4°C and 22.6°C

    June
    Bendigo: 4.4°C and 13.2°C
    Toowoomba: 6.3°C and 16.9°C

    July
    Bendigo: 3.5°C and 12.1°C
    Toowoomba: 5.3°C and 16.3°C

    August
    Bendigo: 4.5°C and 13.7°C
    Toowoomba: 6.0°C and 17.9°C

I feel this is a classic case of the "pot calling the kettle black".

    Please don't exaggerate...

Ah yes, retirees will leave Sydney and Melbourne in search of large population. Good point. Noted.

Unless they want beaches and cocktails in which case they'll head to Toowoomba. Naturally

    Bugger you.

You have gone and let that 'closely-guarded' secret out.

Now millions of Mexicans will come to Toowoomba and property prices will boom.

I will have to add you to my Ignore list :) :).

The Brisbane tourist busses are 20% full..
Don't laugh, they were less than 10% full just one month prior. This represents over a 100% increase in numbers and underscores yet again why a boom in Brisbane is indeed inevitable :)

Sounds like a lot of butt hurt buddy.

The following will address your inaccuracies...

No need to preach to me what each place is like - like I said, I've lived many years in each. I said your point had merit - but you've failed to make your point without exaggerating. Anyone can sprout raw figures:-

    January
    Bendigo: Max - 29.8°C, number of days over 35°C - 5.3, highest max: 43.8°C
    Toowoomba: 28.1°C, number of days over 35°C - 1.0, highest max: 39.5°C

    February
    Bendigo: 29.4°C, number of days over 35°C - 3.7, highest max: 45.4°C
    Toowoomba: 27.2°C, number of days over 35°C - 0.4, highest max: 37.4°C

Have you even spent considerable time in either place? If you haven't, you're complete unqualified to make such assertions. There's more to climate than just temps - you've failed to make any mention of wind speeds, wind-chill factor and humidity. Care to make mention of any of these in your response?

Wrong. Again. You're simply exaggerating your figures to make yourself sound better, again.

For Bendigo, where's your figure of 90000 for Bendigo from? Bendigo's municipal population currently is 115,000. Take out Elmore, Heathcote and the farming populations, and you're still at 105,000.

For Toowoomba, if you bothered to do some research you wouldn't have said it has a population of 162,000. Ever driven from Millmerran to Yarraman? Yeah, didn't think so. It's a LONG way. My estimate of 115000 for Toowoomba City it seems was too generous to you - the pre-amalgamation of the former TCC was 90,199 (Toowoomba Regional Council | Queensland Places).

Your overall points have merit - lots of retirees move from Melbourne and Sydney to Toowoomba (my parents are a case in point). But it's clouded by the exaggeration and drivel you peddle. Cut the BS out, acknowledge the merit in the comments that other posters may have, and you may actually deliver a cogent argument.
