I live between Mt Gravatt and Capalaba. I keep my own rainfall figures (an old farmer son :) :)).

There were huge variations around the SE Qld during this weekend's weather event. Below I have listed the rainfall (in mls) for the last 3 days, YTD 2016, YTD 2015 and Average to June for Brisbane CBD, Logan and Coolangatta (from the Elders weather site):

    Brisbane CBD 138, 361, 1154, 574
    Logan 76, 293, 975, 669
    Coolangatta 362, 969, 1284, 967

    Keys points:
    1. This weekend Coolangatta received as much rain as Brisbane CBD has received all year. The Gold Coast copped a lot over the weekend (nearly 15 inches in the old scale).
    2. All three locations have received a lot less rain YTD this year compared with last year.
    3. Brisbane and Logan are 37% and 56% behind the long-tem averages. With this weekend's downpour, Coolangatta is back on average.

I've had to stay inside watching videos most of the weekend.
    It's been awful.

@kierank... My SIL reads her rain gauge every day and records it on a chart. That is the type of ordered person she is (would drive me nuts).

Do you take readings due to old habits, or do you use them for anything else?

We were at a family lunch a month ago and I asked this SIL why she reads the gauge and records it as she lives in an apartment. She said it is so she knows whether she needs to water her pot plants or not LOL. She is a lovely person but I think is a bit OCD about her lists and charts. It makes me want to mess up her alphabetised DVD collection just to see how she'd handle it :D:p.

If there's ever an opportunity for gifts I suggest you change the cards over. Crappy gift from a loved one and a great gift a no one.

Heaps of rain... me though, no real worries, though it appears some water gets in under my window in my bathroom. There are also some natural water courseways you can see in my dungeon rooms. Other than that, pretty good except i've had washing hanging out to dry since about Tuesday....

It was one of my jobs when I was kid on the farm. So, it is a 50 year old habit.

My in-laws used to be country folks and they measure their rain. It gives us something else to talk about instead of their daughter, the grandkids, the great grandkids,... :):).

We just count the number of ducks. Lots of ducks = lots of rain.

I've read on the news Brissie north side including Moreton Bay area also get severely impacted by this downpour weather. I think they mentioned Deception Bay is one of the main area that copped heaps of rain. Anyone with updates on the North side?

I heard that Moreton Bay and Deception Bay are both full of water at the moment.
