Safety is important but they can't just shutdown a city

I thought I heard a tree come down. Went outside to investigate - couldn't find anything. Maybe in the neighbour's yard?

Emptied the guage again. Another 52mm in the last 4 hours, giving a total of 212mm.

Nothing like the Gold Coast hinterland where they had 525mm (or 21 inches).

Yep, it is really starting to blow.

Can't wait until midnight when it should be over.

I really hope you're right. I can't sleep when the wind is like this. I think I'd be right if there were no large trees in the vicinity, but there's a massive gum tree on the nature strip over the road - it pretty much lines up with all the bedrooms at my place.

Feeling a little on edge right now...........

Imagine what the people at Whitsundays/Hamilton Is/Mackay/Bowen have gone through, must have been torture. When I saw those videos of the noise, it was actually quite scary even though it was only video.

still bit of rain and wind here in Wakerley, not as gusty as before though.

Flash flooding in some city areas, looks like the gabba is flooded and paddington too. no surprise but still sucks.

BOM radar shows remnants of the storm has now blown past Tweed Heads/Coolongatta.

    It's not over

I'm predicting continued high winds and rain all of tonight. Worst has passed, but there is still more in the works tonight.
