Nothing here other than a nice bit of drizzle early evening.

Possible high tide Thursday evening but nothing like 2011 so fear not.

Big difference this time water to come from the rain in the sky and not the overflowing rivers.

Brisbane received some much needed rain.
The media has a responsibility to prepare the community for cyclones in a calm manner through sharing preparation strategies however tend to build drama for ratings which in turn creates a sense of panic for the community which is not helpful - sometimes I wonder if the need for a story and drama is disguised as 'empathy'...

We have brought it upon ourselves.

After every weather event people scream "why weren't we warned"? Even though a glance out of the window would give some clues. So in self defence every possible storm is accompanied by extensive warnings.

    It is always someone's fault!

Compared to what's just happened in North Queensland, nothing to see.

Its raining heavily in the CBD. No shirt on. Temp still good.

Hopefully some water around still on Sat for those of you looking at IPs to buy. The best time to look at a house is just after a storm. See where the water goes and if it settles and what feels damp etc.

If worried about storms buy a 100 year old Queenslander. They have what are called VJ walls. That means you have two layers of nailed planks (inside and out). Adds strength to the whole house.

According to BOM radar maps, as of 1am now, Ex-TC Debbie is travelling south and has mostly passed rockhampton and now around Gladstone.

If it continues south it will probably get to Brisbane later today in the afternoon(they estimated morning yesterday), but seems like its moving pretty slowly still.

Bayside here having some showers and lightning.

    Severe Weather Warning 1 (QLD)

There's a great deal of complacency displayed in this thread. The BOM have had severe weather warnings concerning SE QLD since at least 5 pm yesterday afternoon. Rainfall totals above 200mm are not to be taken lightly.

As always with tropical cyclone events, things change. Sometimes quite quickly.
Heavy rain predicted SE Qld. 500ml maybe.
All schools closed Agnes Waters to the NSW border.
    Businesses suggested to close midday
    Afternoon thunderstorms possible.
Public transport cannot be guaranteed this afternoon.
People asked to stay off roads.
    Welcome to sunny Queensland!

    Yes.

Children already at school will be supervised. Parents contacted to pick up as soon as possible. By this afternoon things will be much worse.

Govt wants cars off the roads after midday.

Nothing at all has changed since the beginning of this thread, not from a forecast point of view. The BOM have handled this event exceptionally well.

It's tough when we're dealing with sensationalist media but more than ever, it is important to access information via the official channels.
