That's the best news we've had in months. No real rain since the cyclone hit back in late March/early April. The gardens really needed it.

Never mind - looks aren’t everything when it comes to investing.

Once this thread reaches 450 pages like the other one, then Brisbane will boom.

    Extract from Matusk

    What Matusk has to say

Queensland 2017-18 capital program per capita:

Inner city (under 5km from GPO)

    $3,500

    Middle-ring (5km to 20km from GPO)

    $1,600

    Outer suburbs (20km+ from GPO)

    $1,000

The Queensland Government’s $10 billion capital program in 2017-18 is heavily skewed towards inner Brisbane, but away from other areas in Brisbane. Brisbane's inner city gets more than three times the per capita spend as the outer suburbs. The Middle-ring residents are missing out, too.

    End note

Suburbia is getting shafted if you ask me, ranging from a disproportionate lack of government spending to limited media focus/attention.

And to help explain why the average household size in increasing, the number of people living in a crowded home is growing faster than those living in more empty ones.

*Stands up*... Owned the house for 3 years, up 29% on purchase price based on valuation being used to refinance at the moment. Should have been finished by now except the banks are being stupidly slow to get organised. Admittedly, I didn't expect it to do as well as it has (expected around 15% over the time frame not 29%). I think my original purchase was no more than 20k under value and the only value-adds I've done are to paint the whole interior of the house, put new carpet right through and replace the hot water system, all of which were done in the first 2 weeks of ownership. Hardly spent a cent since.

Just wish the rent would go up as it's gone nowhere in 3 years. And now that I'm facing my first vacancy next week I'm worried how long it will take to find a new tenant. The PM is on the ball, I'm just not sure the rental market is there.

I think if Sydney and Melbourne see slight price corrections (which it appears is happening), Brisbane's growth will probably be modest at best (in the short term).
