It's no surprise Brisbane units saw a decline of 1.1% in the December Qtr. Houses are still good with a 1.5% growth in Dec qtr

According to Brisbane Times, whose headline was "Units are clearly the best buy at the moment after recording a 15 year growth low".

Could still be a good buy in another 15 years.
I'd prefer to wait and see what happens when all the current supply goes on the market.

There is silver lining in every story...most newer units are in larger complexes due to development cost and profitability of the development. If you own an older unit on say a 1000sqm block with say 4 units. You technically own 250sqm of land. Therein lies the difference. The newer units will push up the value of older units in certain suburbs...but not dead set in the CBD.

    It may never happen.

About 5 years ago they said 60k houses were to be built in Sydney's outer west. Never happened and prices shot up as a result of the city wide prolonged undersupply.

That said I know in Brisbane they went bananas with town house developments in the 90's that suppressed price growth for a while
