So much wisdom that can be translated into practical application from this book.

I enjoy (in particular) Australian business biographies and recommend -

Killing Fairfax (Packer, Murdoch and the Ultimate Revenge) by Pamela Williams
The Rise and Rise of Kerry Packer (Uncut) by Paul Barry
Rich Kids by Paul Barry (the fiasco that was One.Tel)
Other People's Money by Andrew Main (the even bigger fiasco that was HIH)
The Rise and Fall of Alan Bond by Paul Barry

There are 3 Paul Barry books there - he does take a slightly more tabloid approach to his writing - but they are both amusing and informative to read. I wouldn't buy any of these books new - borrow them from a library or get them for a couple of bucks from a 2nd hand book shop.

There is a book by Adele Ferguson (Gina Rinehart) which, tbh, I wouldn't bother with (I didn't dig it, no pun intended). And also another book "The House of Hancock" by Debi Marshall which I haven't read.

Nor have I read (but I will get to) the biographies on -

Kerry Stokes (The Boy from Nowhere by Andrew Rule)
Andrew Forrest (Twiggy: The High Stakes Life of Andrew Forrest by Andrew Burrell)
Nathan Tinkler (Boganaire: The Rise and Fall of Nathan Tinkler by Paddy Manning)

The cartoon below from Killing Fairfax.

I miss Kerry Packer. He certainty would be rolling in his grave if he saw how bad the news has became.

Im reading the latest book on Jack Ma, founder of Alibaba, the house that Jack Ma Built. Fascinating story. It inspires me to look at starting another business by finding gaps in the marketplace. I'm using my kids kindle fire. ;)

The only thing I am against Jack Ma is the quote "If you're still poor at 35, you deserve it". Personally I don't agree with this and of course it could be taken out of context because I know of people who succeeded in later years in their life. I am not 35 yet and still have a few years to go but I anticipate by 35 I could have more options in my life and hopefully coach my own Real Madrid under 12 soccer team for a local competition.

I don't think you should take that quote too seriously. I'm past 35 but best years ahead of me. ;)

Agreed Larry and besides the life expectancy is a lot higher now anyway. In the old days, we should be making peace with our maker by now and doing some more good deeds to please the big man upstairs lol

Have to agree that God Delusion is brilliant, followed by Hitchens' God is not great.
I also really loved Animal Liberation by Peter Singer (gut wrenching but worthwhile read on ethics).
Recently reading All The Light We Cannot See for book club, which is good. We also read The Narrow Road to the Deep North (more than a bit intense).
Anything Kurt Vonnegut or George Orwell will do me very nicely.

And then there's Donna Tartt... just wow.

I was rather underwhelmed with All The Light We Cannot See.

For Tartt, I've read and liked The Secret History (but seriously, who'd name a couple Charles & Camilla?). I want to read The Goldfinch sometime too.

That's a good way to look at it.
You also have momentum - it's all downhill from here ;)
