I just had a blood test , non fasting , and the results have come back.

I think everyone here should get themselves a blood test but im pretty sure a fasting one is better ?

I havent had a blood test for years , so i think every few months is better.

Get yourself one the only negative is now im more worried and stressed by the results with a 9.1 for glucose could mean i have diabetes said the doctor and a 12.1 for white blood cells !

Omg im worser now than before i had the blood test !!!

But i shouldnt fear, the new Doctor (he was free on bulk bill) has sent me to a exercise physiologist???o_O:D

But note that not all blood tests will pick up everything .

Anyone know how i can get that glucose level down? And what about the white cells can i decrease that too?

Men should have a colonoscopy every 5 years, prostate test every year and blood test every 3 months... well maybe not every 3 months but i think a fasting one gives much better results ., get tested especially the colonoscopy!

Of course you can have all these tests and nothing is picked up then you end up dying of skin cancer or something !

Must get checked for that too !

Sleep is vital - the body repairs itself while you sleep. If you skimp on sleep it means the body can't repair itself and any issues just exacerbate.

Also gut bacteria - vital for good health - which means you need to feed you gut lots of fibre from leafy green, wholemeal, variety and lentils ... note #4 in the following ... no junk food!

moderate carbs, more bulky veg, lots of different colours ( not SPUDS) good quality proteins, moderate amount of variety fruit, take care of your Omega 6 to Omega 3 intake ratios.

there are lots of ok systems out there to keep you on track, but mainstream western medicine tends to prefer the ambulance at the bottom of the cliff vs a fence at the top

You do not need a blood test every 3 months.

You do not need a colonoscopy every 5 years.

Every 12 months is fine for a blood test.

Remember glucose is a spot test. Glucose goes up and down and a one off test is not too concerning. Have a fasting glucose and see if it is different.

That's where your 12 monthly tests come in. You can track your results over time.

Your glucose levels could be high because of your poor diet. To lower your blood glucose you need to eat better and walk every day.

I do regular monotoring at work

My blood glucose is normally around 5.4 but can get down to 4.7

Resting HR is normally around mid 50's but can get down to high 40's

Had some chest issues recently and everything was clear, eventually was diagnosed positive for Helicobacter pylori virus

Most people will not need regular blood tests. They should be done under the direction of a medical doctor. Some, but not all blood tests have fasting as a requirement. If you have concerns talk to your doctor. Get a second opinion if necessary. In your case, unless type 1 diabetes is indicated, a change of lifestyle will hopefully change your blood sugar to normal. Less stress and overwork is also likely to help.

What did you eat/drink just before the blood test?
If you just had a coffee/sugar your blood pressure and glucose could have been high as a result.
I thought only a fasting test was useful to detect diabetes? I’m no medical expert so could be wrong.

I’m lucky that due to work I get an annual medical. It’s able to pick up year to year changes.

    Highly recommend

    Me too.
Only been a few times in my adult life.
This one time, the deluded doc told me I have to go on high blood pressure meds!
When I went back a week later and told him I didn’t take the various medication he prescribed. Instead I did lots of cardio and aerobic exercise. He got angry and gave me a lecture about saying how it took 7 years of study to become a doc and I should do what he says !
Then he tested my blood pressure and it was perfectly fine, so he just shut up and admitted I don’t really need to be on medication...
What a loser for trying to put me on side effect generating meds, probably getting a kick back from the pharmaceutical company.
I think I know my own body a little better than he does, he was fat too.
He can prescribe himself all the meds he wants.

I agree if you are in tune with your body you know it better than doctors do. I would go if something doesn’t feel right but not out of fear.

It depends on the blood test.
The doctor will tell you, and the lab will check, if fasting is required.
Otherwise it makes no difference to the results.

How far do you go,most of my working blue collar mates --the ones that worried to much never even made it too the big "60",all one has to do is wake up and say it's going to be the best day of your life, and go for a long walk--some these days are stressed when they have nothing to worry about..
