For my IP's I use vertical blinds, without those annoying plastic chains/links that always break.

I don't like verticals personally, as they remind me of office windows in the 80s but I'm curious about how much verticals actually cost? I'm guessing they have to be measured to fit? Doesn't that make them expensive?

I prefer roller blinds, my perspective looks more presentable and modern

For the everyday, run of the mil ip, just the cheapest standard roller blinds. To me that makes sense from an investment standpoint.

Gosh, @Leo2413. If that is your run of the mill IP, what are your upper end IPs? :p

I personally detest vertical blinds with a passion, i think they can cheapen even the most dated of rooms

First thing I did was ditch all the stupid plastic chains.

You changed all your blinds to something else, @Jess Peletier ?

I've been tasked to do it a few years ago....but kept thinking it would be super expensive. We've got 3 sets of sliding doors (each with 2 or 3 glass panels!):eek:

Hubby did all the hard work of renovating those rooms....and I have yet to change the blinds

Not yet - funny, all the houses I'm NOT living in have lovely new blinds, and I'm living with beige horrors ;) We have large windows too - I'm not quite certain what we're going to put over them yet.

For new properties generally rollers, especially if theyre going to ve rentals. Ive also used timber /pvc venetians depending on age of property and what was existing. Sometimes cheap curtains from spotlight if a stabdard size fits and the rods etc are existing.

Atm getting $40k worth of custom curtains and sheers done for a luxury reno im organising but i get wholesale prices on them so paying a fair bit less.

Only 2 i wont use is verticals and aluminium venetians, the latter because theyre prone to gettinf damaged easily.

Who do you recommend for curtains and/or blinds, @sanj ? I really should get some quotes and sort out our sad vertical blinds.

What types of curtains and sheers are you putting up in your luxe reno? I've not kept up with the trends in window treatments.

Ive actually had some pretty hood prices from abc blinds for rollers, you'll have to bargain hard though.

Theres also a mob in malaga who did the blinds in my last development, ill have to dig that up. Their prices were good.

Re the reno we're doing a mix of silk and linen, depending on the room etc. Also pelmets and blockouts and sheers. Nothing overly fussy, just being used primarily to provide warmth and texture.

Roller blinds, but leave the curtain rod in place so the tenants can add their own curtains if they wish.

I like those roller blinds on the big sliding doors (above) but I wouldn't use them in an IP. Tenants likely will lift them up to get through, or bend them or catch them in the door, or leave them down when the door is open and have them flapping about.

We stick to eyelet curtains. No measuring, no cutting to size. We put up good strong rods and then if a curtain gets damaged, faded or just looks old, a quick trip to any curtain shop for another set of eyelet curtains. I like to think it is a KISS (and cheaper than other options) approach to window treatments.
