no kidding , but playing the devils advocate ....

yep , he created Microsoft , but the Bill & Melinda Gates foundation has created a image for them that has established a place at the top of the list of worthwhile members of the worlds society , outside his role as a successful businessman . That legacy is something few business people achieve .

how much of that was driven by her , or both of them

Perhaps it is time for a re-think of marriage-as-we-know-it. The 'Till Death Do Us Part' model was fashioned centuries ago when people's lifespan was much shorter, women did not work outside the home and people's expectation of what life had to offer was vastly different.

Just because a marriage ends, it does not mean it was a bad marriage, simply that those concerned had matured differently and now want a different direction in their lives

Yes - once upon a time "til death do us part" was generally 10-15 years max ... enough time to whack out a few kids and be around until they were self sufficient

LoL Why would I have a problem with them, I'm just recounting their own words.
Did you ask your ex if you could marry your wife? They are not typical. Kinda strange actually.
And yet reading their statements the ex contributed more to microsoft the wife, even after he got married. Should she get some of the divorce money?
As much as I'm cynical, not enough to call raising your own kids "work" or a "job".

I agree she ain't no tropy. The foundation was mainy her idea with his money. And maybe that was an issue.

I'd like to say i hate more than everybody and everything, but ya know, gotta stay humble.

Yikes... I really admire the work that Bill and Melinda have done through their foundation. The Bill and Jeffery connection I really hope was an innocent one.

Let's be honest, a lot of geriatric mega-rich fellas marrying someone a third their age are clearly doing it for one reason.

I don't have much sympathy when they lose a part of their fortune. They are smart enough to realise its effectively "payment for services". Not many 20-year-old models have much interest in an old geezer.

(Granted, this doesn't really apply to Bill Gates)

It is true very often though. We each have our own bias, based on our own experience, what we know of others, what we know from the news. There is no "one size fits all".

50/50 all things considered, since half don’t last the intended and promised distance, probably 3/4 imho, more than I realised before understanding, are living with the enemy, some aware, some not!
