The week started well, but with 14-16 hour days, and 4 social nights out (including one wedding, and one (my birthday - today, thank you), it was hopeless.

But.. I've started again and had a healthy day (edit: i just remembered three freshly baked cookies that jumped into my mouth when i got home). Even my 3 yo knocked my full and only birthday beer over just now.

    140.9, down 1.6kg

    Main changes:
    - No soft drink. Would usually average one drink a day
    - Less fried or takeway food, but not much change really as its not that frequent
    - Slightly smaller meal portions
    - Activity almost every day - about 2 extra days than normal. Wts / BJJ / soccer with the kids / physical jobs around the house

Will be very happy if can average a kilo a week.

80.7kg, down from 81.0kg last week.

Back on the calorie counting game (I'm reasonably tall, so I aim for 1600 cals/day). Have discovered that Coles does a lamb and barley soup (in the deli section) which is reasonably priced and only 178 cals, and actually tastes like something you'd choose to eat. I can see this being my go-to lunch for the next six months (yes, I am a creature of habit!).

Snacking - I try to drink a lot of water, usually go through 6 glasses per day at work. I also like almonds (only 20g, no salt/fat) plus light cheese and biscuits - this in particular is good at filling the gap.

I think I'm getting a cold though, so will have to try not to pity-eat my way through a pack of Tim Tams. (That's per day, not over the week, btw.) I hate being sick and I tend to suffer from man flu, so we'll see how I go - fingers crossed.

    The Mexican soup is
    1 can of tinned tomatoes
    500ml of chicken stock
    1 onion
cayenne, paprika, cumin, chilli, pepper (unfortunately I didn't measure but I can tell you that it wasn't a lot of each)

Next time I make it I'm going to add some low carb veggies like cauliflower, cabbage and zuchini

Yeah sounds perfect. Needs those extra veggies for winter, I think. Will use this.

@WattleIdo I'd be interested in the borscht soup recipe.

110.7 for me - getting some different results depending on where I put the scales.

An up and down week - but not set up for proper exercise. Hoping to really improve in that area this week.
Snacking tip would be the Nestle Soliel yogurt - fills the sweetness spot but is not too bad calorie wise.
Really want to kick on from here - feel quite behind the targets.

    It's from Moosewood.
    1. Place 1.5 cups sliced potato and 1 cup sliced beet(root)s into a large saucepan with 4 cups water. Cover and simmer for 30 mins.
    2. Melt 1-2 tbspns butter in a frying pan and heat 1.5 cups chopped onion (or less) with1 scant tspn caraway seeds and salt.
    3. Add a chopped carrot and a chopped stalk of celery and 3 to 4 cups shredded cabbage.
    4. Transfer contents of frying pan to large saucepan with potato and beet.
    5. Add 1 cup tomato puree. Also 1 or 2 tbspns cider vinegar and 1 or 2 tbspns brown sugar or honey. Heat for another 15 mins.
    6. Serve toppedwith sour cream or yoghurt and a sprinkle of fresh dill.
I didn't use the vinegar or the sugar/honey. Also forgot to get caraway seeds. And used tomato juice instead of puree. It turned out pretty yummy and satisfying esp with the dollop of sour cream.

    And happy birthday @Bran

You need to put the scales in the position or room where you weigh the least... and don't move them again. :p

Managed 89.4kg before bed tonight, a 1.3kg loss.

I expect my weight to fluctuate pretty wildly throughout the next 11 weeks.

This week there was not a lot of exercise and not much change in diet. I put my loss down to shivering the last 2 days in Adelaide!

Its been a big weekend, so Ill finalize the spreadsheet tomorrow morning, giving the last stragglers a chance befor 9am to weigh in.
