Best place to find freelancers?

Have found Fiverr to be fairly average and over the top.

Mixed results with Upwork, however better than Fiverr. The issue with these is lots of professionals who claim to be experts so it becomes difficult to figure whose actually good.

Fiverr - hopeless unless you want something very very basic.

I've found upwork to be ok, but you've really got to pick out the right people. There's a lot on there and not all are any good.

 

I've tried Fiverr and UpWork.

UpWork has been much better at getting a satisfactory result and I no longer bother with Fiverr.

I also used 99 Designs for a logo and was very happy.

 

I used them for my logo, facebook cover, letterhead etc as part of a package they had going at the time. They've since raised their prices and are quite expensive now. I like the format though of giving the brief for everyone to respond to.

 

We use Upwork in the law form regularly. Need a dodgy PDF turned to word document - Asia if during the day - Europe over night.

 

Yeah, when I did it their prices were cheaper. It really worked for me because I didn't actually know what I wanted, and needed to see some designs to get a feel for what would look good.

 

I put my project up on freelancer. Within 2-3 seconds, i started to receive offers to complete the project for me. They were like 30-40 offers straight away and they all said we have reviewed your project requirements, please contact us to discuss in detail.

So not really satisfied with whats there on freelancer.

 

Best is to contact a local freelancer. You can talk to them over the phone/skype or face to face if you can afford it. They may look expensive initially but I am sure they will save you a lot in the long run.

 

I've had clients use Fiverr and it's been a disaster. Upwork is ok but I would use these guys for generic stuff. If you have the time to sift through the multiple applicants it can work well. You do get what you pay for though. So if people expect to pay a very small dollar value, you are going to get some stock standard stuff that doesn't match your business values and branding.

You need to look at their ratings in terms of exams they have done ie. English and aim for higher scores here. This way they will understand what you are actually asking for and hopefully deliver.

If you are going to use these platforms for logo's I suggest you get a good understanding of the various files you need so that in future, if you want to print brochures or even get signage for your shopfront, you can actually get it done. A pdf just doesn't cut it.

 

Odesk was very good for graphic design work.
