The people that voted Greens/Teals are fiscally conservative protest voters who wanted more action on climate change. If there was even the smallest iota of a socialist Greens government forming, they would be back supporting the Liberals before you could blink.

Where do you get the information from? How do you know how is voted Teal or Green or the Cannabis guys?

Maybe Serveman saying the truth and the voting is not anonymous at all!
I did sense someone is watching. Big brother maybe?

The "experts" could not figure what the end result will be, so how can you classify the voter base?
    Biased much?

You have mastered this very well I notice....
Couldn't agree more, but I need to learn this skill as I was never a keyboard warrior as I don't belong to any chats or forums other than here.;)

This thread is becoming very humorous ;)..... politics is always messy and it seems a new religion for some.
No need to stress I think time will show the direction, let's live the next 3-4 years and see our standard of living improving (although I think this should be under our control rather than anyone elses....).
I think it's not just in Oz changes are happening rather the whole Western World.
    I read somewhere;

And it seems we are at the fourth sentence currently and the circle keeps turning? Can substitute 'men' to 'people'.

Apparently his booth staff were warning people not to use the supplied pencils ... he does understand how the election system works in Australia, right? Multiple scrutineers at every single point, locked and tagged boxes etc?

He's sounding very Trumpian in his unfounded accusations

Yes, I saw that he had alleged electoral fraud
Clive Palmer claims election was rigged

    Oh. That was in 2016.

So I googled Palmer and fraud to see if there were other stories. There were. He was charged with fraud for illegally directing millions from his company to his party.

I find it incredibly depressing that someone would spend that amount of money on a failed vanity project (twice)

Imagine using it to build a school for disadvantaged, or fund medical research, or creating a housing society for homeless, or a privately owned rainforest, or any number of progressive community befitting possibilities... then his name could live on in posterity forever ... but nooooo ...

Media watch's take on the election coverage - just shows you how hostile/biased Murdoch/News corp were towards Labor

I wonder if there is a way for the government to fix some of those issues.
This is a direct threat on democracy, where money can buy government.

I was think if they can bring in some laws that makes blunt lies, deception and falsehood during election campaign result in huge fines, making sure media and candidates more careful with what they put on, reducing the ability to run scare campaigns and make them concentrate more on what they offer rather than trashing the other side.

Also, maybe a limit on how much money can be used during campaign, to hinder people like Palmer from flooding the country months before election.
Adding SMSs from parties to the spam law. Most of the people are not interested in this spam.

And of course, re-start the discussion of limiting the ability to centrally control the media.
It's not different than any other monopoly.

There is no political will to fix this on either side(Liberal/Labor) because they benefit from this. There are special exemptions for governments and political parties under the Spam Act.

Obviously the liberals have Murdoch/News corp backing but i don't see how you can stop that kind of messaging in a country with free speech...
Hopefully labor might be able to introduce some changes that would at least target disinformation.

This is all tied to political donations unfortunately and i don't see that changing anytime soon.

Governments regulating media is a very slippery slope.

Ultimately it's the public that will decide what media they consume, and I don't think many in the national press gallery did themselves any favours during this campaign.

Unfortunately the choice was between a redhead and an anti-abortion religious 'enthusiast'*. I honestly can't tell which one is worse (no offence to redheads, just this particular one).
