Silicon Valley is full of hype, arrogance and is overvalued. Your generalization pinpoints your ignorance.

I think that’s true. We sit on a lot of paper wealth, I’d like to see it tied to innovation and science. Otherwise we’re going to be left behind by Asia.

What we need are tax breaks for highly skilled engineers and scientists, a national policy to push the country towards that direction, and ideally tax breaks for these companies. We should be offering SoftBank and Tencent the opportunity to set up regional HQ here tax free.

Alas we will squander the wealth built today. Which is why I have hedged myself out of here already.

My view is partially influenced from having come back from Tokyo, Shenzhen, HK for extended periods of time.

    Running with the Bull,
Australia has had 30 years of increasing growth.
30 years. frighteningly yes, 30 years!!!
Unparalleled stroke of luck from 1988.
No one other country has had this Powerball win consecutively 3 times!
Dodging the bullet and Lucky? Yes.
Recession Looming? No one knows yet... but indications are there.
    Asset price bubble? Can't say.
We all know that things are cyclical.
If it misses one, the next one will get it.

@GentleChief, looks like you are correct, we are certainly closer to a recession than we were 30 years ago:rolleyes:

I agree with this statement. Whilst the Silicon Valley is leads in terms of tech the quality life is expensive and very poor. It is a young man's game over there....lot of Psychopaths...running companies. I would much prefer to live in Australia.

Whilst Australia is backward in some aspects...it leads in quality of life...even Sydney compared to the Silicon Valley has much better lifestyle.

I would much prefer to live in Australia....much few Seppos here....;)
