Its interesting to see which way commutes will go. I think we will see some examples of living on the GC and perhaps commuting 3 times a week with the rest working from home office. We will also see more and more office demand for businesses who move to Southport and establish locally.

I guess every bit helps but what the GC really needs is less flashy resi towers and more jobs. And if it can't attract big business to set up HQ's, then it needs better infrastructure/transport links to Brisbane eg a VFT that can cut travelling time to say 30 mins max. That would truly be the game changer for the GC.

A number of people in our apartment complex are FIFO. They fly from GC to Sydney on a Monday morning and fly back to GC on a Friday night. Best of both worlds.

It helps that the airport is 5 minutes away.

Yeah but I wouldn't read too much into that
    1. Would have likely happened anyway
    2. Rebounded even stronger than before after those events. Eg both housing markets and share markets.

I agree. There is an element or build it and they will come, which promotes jibs growth to service the higher population.
If there does get a high speed train, yeah this will really help- more so than high rises. More than anything, I'd say they need quick and easy access to jobs, and that's what the high speed train will provide.

I think the big business will eventually come. But even better lots of scope for small and medium business to grow and become big. We will get some major successes over time I think. And of course more residents, more foreign spending and investment, more building and construction and more tourism is all good.

Agree - article like that are a little misleading. In general countries where builders and developers are ambitious and think big are positive long term for growth.

That'd be the game changer for me,
I'd be all in, I love my blue mountains but a few quieter spots on the GC with a 30-50 minute commute....
    Oh hell, now I'm daydreaming.
