I'm thinking about buying a 3 bedroom house in Sydney. It's designed such that I can add a kitchen, close a door in the middle, and get a 3 bed unit + separate studio with their own entry, kitchen, bathroom. Only a shared laundry.

I know I need approvals for an attached dual occupancy. But can I not go through that process and rent the areas separately through 2 rental agreements? I see people do that all the time when they rent out rooms separately. From my perspective I'm still getting 2 separate rental incomes.

    Thanks in advance :)
