    Hi all,

Is it true that if a house has old style asbestos cladding, that it must be removed and that it cannot be covered up using blue board or other material?

    Cheers

I am not aware of any such rule, it may or may not exist, but any sort of work covering up asbestos could be risky and unsafe.

Also if it is in an effort to "cover up" the fact that a house has asbestos prior to the sale of said home, that could be seen as misrepresentation and could land you in strife!

No that would not be true. Old fibro gets reclad in vinyl or aluminium cladding on a regular basis for example.

The removal can be a one off deduction via ATO.
There's a thread on here somewhere, I'll take a looksee...

    PPOR or IP ?
Rules vary state to state as to exactly WHAT you can do.
Best use google/council to check ;)
In VIC, I had to wrap and dispose of in "specified land fill"...
In NSW, I did the same, yet it went into "general land fill"
    PM me for specifics
Yes, I do hold a licence, it largely depends on, 1 owner occupied, 2 amount o_O
(Aka, i removed behind the tiles during the kitchen reno of my PPOR, small amount, non friable, disposal....... $0 :D

(A house cladding is a DIFFERENT story )

Thanks everyone for your feedback. Much appreciated.

This place is a a renovation that we're doing on a splitter block (new townhouse is being built at the rear).

I have the Bestos under vinyl cladding and the cladding is boring creme colour - does anyone know if there is paint available for vinyl cladding?
