Yep. A strong parallel to Marrickville but replace African with Vietnamese and Greek.

    :)

Highly recommended. Yeshi Buna is my fav. Go there during a weeknight and ask some diners where they're from. You'll find many have come quite a distance.

Well, if you really want to hype the area, get the current demographic to start growing and sporting beards. This should give you a spurt of capital growth........Ohh! To clarify, the beards I'm talking about refer to the male residents. :)

    They're starting to appear.

Get breakfast at Tood & Pupp about 10:30am on Sat morning and see for yourself.

Though many of those folks have wandered over from Tarragindi.

Lol the whole suburb is undesirable.. Its a dump but its location is great

Nah- part of the suburb bordering Tarrangindi is nice/ leafy area. I'd be careful of buying apartments there unless holding for a while as lots of units going up in side-streets of Mayfield rd - some lower quality ones have been on market a while

Back in the day (I'm guessing) even marrickville was like Moorook is now - a bit grungy, higher unemployment (but not unmanageable), diverse and multicultural... Yet great location. Eventually yes it will replicate marrickville... However...just like others in Sydney had their day before marrickville, others in Brisbane too will have their growth bigger and better than Moorooka.
Long term I'm very bullish on Moorooka. Just that there is a fair amount in bn that have better short and med term prospects...

    Really?
    One sick act?
    Could happen anywhere.
I think it will bring the community closer.

Very sad news and I feel for the victim and his families and friends.

I have never been to Moorooka, but something like this would give people perception that Moorooka is not a good place to buy and live. Unfortunately perception is reality these days.

Very true. It's an unfortunate unthinkable event. Negative press lingers on people's impressions for long time.

A recent issue of API mag argued these types of tragedies have no effect on prop values locally with few exceptions- even suburbs like Hendra which a virus was named after....Unsure what it said about Snowtown....
Especially as this was a one-off mentally ill guy which could occur anywhere I suggest

    Could've happened anywhere I suppose.
Glad it wasn't on a bus that I was on, pretty full on.

Pretty ordinary to see a threat talking about the impact of something like this on property values, wow.

people's desirability to live in - especially by people don't know the area at all
stigmata takes a while to go away - that's what dragging Moo down at the moment- it will eventually gentrify
just look at the median price difference with surrounding suburbs - it has to catch up

Looks like a Moorooka thread, not a thread created for the bus incident?
Or did you really mean threat?

Good point JDP1, would you be able to name a few suburbs that have better short and medium term prospects? Thanks
