Great for the charities but if this is what frugal living is about then im sorry to say ive enjoyed life, will continue to enjoy life and help others along the way. We have one life to live. Enjoying it isnt a bad thing. If the sole purpose is self fulfilment then i believe thats selfish. But its our own lives. Someone can be as selfish as they like.

If he enjoyed scouring supermarkets for great deals then awesome. A beach in thailand sounds better to me. But hey thats me.

His love and caring for others during his life is what is more inspiring. But the 15m title is good click bait. If the title was ex banker who inherited millions spends his life helping those less fortunate than himself wouldnt get the same clicks.

Sometimes its too late. You could be diagnosed with a terminal illness at 50 and its over. Being frugal for what ? An inheritance for someone else. Balance is the key.

Can still be frugal and travel and experience life. Just not on a wild scale. And its more fun anyway doing it a little rougher.

    I'll never stop.
I enjoy life more being frugal than splurging, so why would I change?

We have always been a bit frugal but as we get to 50 we enjoy taking more time away from the workforce and bigger holidays .
Must have been years ago when i could only take 4 weeks leave ever year.At least 8 weeks these days and preferably only work 4 days a week.

    Print the pictures?

The printed picture of the printer doesn't work quite as effectively as the pictures from the catalogue which gets delivered to my mailbox.

Geoff got to think outside the box when being frugal. I dress up as a cleaner and sneak into offices at night and use their printer and paper. My own !!! Sacre bleu thats not frugal

Lol. Our dishwasher broke down in August or September and we haven't replaced it! Problem is that the partner is not in agreement with me as to what new dishwasher to get.

My dishwasher broke, so I use the neighbors when they are not around. Cramming into it week worth of dishes. Also, I do dishes for the family down the road, in my neighbors dishwasher and charge them $5 for the service.
... just kidding, I am renting. If dishwasher goes kaput the landlord is to the rescue.

Here is something thats happening in my life.

I have a car for sale worth about $20k to the right person, its been for sale for a year, no bites.
I dont need the car gone, i drive it once a month, the value of the car is slowly depreciating or staying still.

Mindset: not really costing much except for registration. I dont need the cash

If i wait another year i might sell it for 15 to 20k
If i advertise it for 10k it will.go within a week

I spend much time in my daily life getting ip repairs done cheaper using my own contacts, airtasker, random handymen. Might save $100 here or there, up to $500
Im selling a few ips, have rejected a few lowballs or even close to minimum prices by as low as 3k

How would you guys analyse mindset???

I could spend heaps of time saving the $100 here or there on repairs, and then lose $10k on the car by fire selling it

Or i could be persistent with the car, get the price i want and then not do any work with the ip repairs and just tell the agent to go on a shopping spree, and not to stress about it

    Or
I could just be frugal about all aspects and not think about which is more effectice

At the end of the day $10k is $10k, but hardly going to make a difference to my net position

If the car's been for sale for a year with no bites, then I think you are asking too much for it. Just bite the bullet, drop the price and sell the car.
