I'm not the first person to ask this question..

One looks at they way we start most do not start on a equal footing ,harsh circumstances are the main reasons combined with problem solving skills that some rise above, while others of the less fortunate seems to step back from reality..

Most will fear death, afraid of failure and simply not accomplishing their dreams and goals..

But when one meets different people that understand the difference between the simple impossible and the possible ..The facts remain the same we do not start on a equal footing from birth ,and with the way "Political Correctness" with all it good intentions did not help a person like Bill-Leak ..

So the question is ,if you were born less fortunate how did you rise above unfair circumstances and become who you are ,and why..

Like many others, we had parents who struggled, migrated to a new country full of opportunity, learnt the local language, strove hard to get somewhere, saw a way forward and to repay a debt of gratitude to that country to which they owed their future and was generally good to them.

It wasn't just finding a job but to push the limits, to establish themselves in their own business, to employ others, to create a better life for themselves & their kids.

I believe we are all born equal, with some more equal than others.

    I certainly didn’t say that!!!

And I have seen more equal men/women make a mess of their lives.

And I have seen less equal men/women live a fantastic life.

To me, it is not how equal you are when you are born; it is about how soon you take responsibility for your life and what you do once you have done that!!!

Just like the law is equal for all, assuming we all have the same sized wallets.

Then the challenge in life is for all to grow their wallets and purses :D.

Some take on the challenge, others don’t.

Females are four times more sensitive than males to economic status cues when rating opposite sex attractiveness, indicating that higher economic status can offset lower physical attractiveness in men much more easily than in women.

Personally I don't believe we 'all' start on an exact 'equal footing from birth', but we (in Australia at least) all have the ability to transform our lives by taking total responsibility. Will some people have a more difficult path than others? Most likely. Its just the way it is. Life is never 100% 'fair'. That's just the reality imo. But we all have the power within us to achieve far more than we realize. Most ppl however will settle for mediocre or just comfortable, or whatever is easiest. Nothing wrong with that, though they can't expect to receive more than the effort/time/sacrifices put in.

I think luck has a lot to do with it, if the right doors don't open at the right time, you can try all you like but that's not to say you don't need brains at the same. You only have limited time in life and being born under the right tree can give you a great advantage or head start in life compared to someone else that's not in that boat. The later has to sacrifice a lot.

Tbh I've heard so much from ppl about 'luck' that I think its too overrated and used as an excuse by many, many ppl in broader society, (ie not PC centric) of why they haven't done well and others have.

I am not saying luck isn't a factor, it definitely is, but in Australia the more you focus and go after what you want with a relentless attitude, the luckier you get. That's been my experience.
