with 50% of the population divorcing it's open market, you are bound to come across a distressed seller

Variation has occurred over time, and by country. But for recent years in Australia, 33% to 35% seems to be standard. Divorce rates have dropped in recent years, possibly because fewer people marry.

50% is a figure which has been commonly repeated over time to the point that it's accepted by many as being fact.

Death and divorce are two big drivers of sales. The others are birth of kids and changing schools.

    About September generally.

I wonder if there is a link between dropping divorce rates and rising property prices? Perhaps couples might be too scared of one having to buy the other out?

Better to get a Slovenian model to marry. Slovenians trump Russians.

Can you get a new wife at the Darwin Markets now? If I get a wife do you think she will do my housework for me and mow the grass?

Darwin fish markets - only deal in fish wives.

How close do you live to @datto? He may be able to arrange a phone interview for mowing the grass but I think he prefers to be there and experience it first hand.

I used to hate Christmas/new year. Staying with inlaws who treated me as the incubator of their grandchildren and a husband who treated me so poorly I couldn't wait for him to go back to work.

I stayed for 5 years longer than I should've cos I was convinced I wasn't good enough to find anyone better. Once I could cope with being alone I left.

Our first separation was just after Christmas.

Lots of people suck at relationships. Im surprised there arent more divorces.

If its 35% that get divorced, I think its easily that number again for people who fall into the category of "should get a divorce".

I wonder why they don't teach kids relationship strategies at school. Would be more useful for them and our society as a whole if they knew something about successful relationships rather than some of the useless rubbish that they teach you but you never use.

Actually now that I think back, I had a prof at uni that did a research study for pre marital counselling. And it didnt help the divorce rates at all.

So education isnt the answer. But then again if you start at school before bad habits are formed then maybe education could work.

I remember one big correlation with higher divorce rates was more financial independence for women. They no longer HAVE to hang around.

But thats a double edged sword. With both parents working, couples get extra worn out and find it harder to deal with life and each other and therefore are more likely to divorce too.

Would have to be some pretty massive changes in our society in order to bring down the divorce rate.
