I would love to be in the position to be able to afford to employ a couple of journalists to create content for PropertyChat / InvestChat / BusinessChat, but I'm not quite there yet.

Perhaps if I could pick up some of the advertising revenue!

Sad to see it go - it's been a big part of the property investment community here in Australia ever since I can remember.

I hope the staff can move on to bigger and better things.

    Sad to hear.:(

Like many others API has been a great source of info over the years. Hell I even found SS through API.

Now to find out what happens to my remaining Subscription.

Oh Kieran @Daisycutter4 I am so sad for you all and the timing sucks!:(
I do hope the new year brings more positivity and career direction in which ever path that takes. You have always been a great journo and writer (as well as a true professional and gentleman) so best wishes for your future. :)

Maybe I'm just getting too old and cynical, but so much media (written, video, TV ...) is just a series of thought bubbles loosely strung together with no underlying hypothesis, conclusion or educated commentary. I was an API subscriber and hadn't intended to re-subscribe as I felt that too much of the content was either driven by spruikers or vested interests. A lot of the material was just like an REA giving a sales speech, things said make sense over all, but there is no demonstrable causal relationship between the thought bubble and reality.

This is not to say that API was a bad publication, I just don't think it was compelling enough. I found it quite useful at times and I don't think it is any different to other publications.

In wish you well for the future, I'm sure you will land on your feet.

This is sad news. I really liked the magazine and have been a subscriber for a few years. What happens to us who have a remaining term on our subscriptions?

    Hi Kieran,

This is terrible news so close to Xmas!

For what it is worth, API has been a real inspiration and resource to my personal learning and development - I discovered API in 2012 whilst browsing in the library and back then you could borrow a whole year's worth and still have another couple of years on the shelf, as Sydney boomed API mags became rarer and rarer to find - a true lead indicator!!!

Will be sad to see it go, hope everything goes well for you and the API family

Geez, I would have thought that API would be here forever. Just goes to show that nothing is permanent.

Six years ago, a business I started and, after 20 years I sold it, went into liquidation. When the CFO rang and told me, I was completely dumbfounded. My heart went out to all the staff who had living expenses, school fees, mortgages, ... I sat for hours on our lounge in shock.

The closure of API brings back those memories and my heart goes out to all the API staff. I am sure it was not an easy decision for the owners. If I can give the staff some encouragement, all of my ex-staff survived, in time got new jobs, etc. I know it might be hard to do at the moment but, stay positive. 2017 will be your BEST year yet.

Like others, I am hugely indebted to APi for the success I have enjoyed with property investing. It was a great source that was really mandatory for every newbie investor.

I'm sorry to hear that @Daisycutter4.... I hope that things look up for you and the rest of the API people in 2017.
I've been a subscriber for about five years now.... I'm sorry to think I won't be getting it in the mail any more :(

Yeah me too. One of the best articles ever.
Another really good one I kept was questioning how many properties you really need.
And another gave fantastic advice on renos to increase value.
There were some gems over the years.

I used to cut their reno articles out and put the clippings in a folder for future use. Many really valuable articles put out over the years. Will be missed.

Wow, sorry to hear that. Awful time to lose a job. Hopefully you get a decent redundancy.

Selfishly I'm not sure what's worse, the fact I won't get to read the magazine anymore or the fact I'm only 12 issues into a 3 year subscription.

I would guess that your subscription is now cactus.

    Sorry, I couldn't stop myself.
