Hi there, I have always wondered is it a case with apartments vs houses more dependent on personal ambitions and financial means to purchase of either a or h? One will get you there slower or faster then the other I guess. Matt
Not necessarily. There is no right or wrong answer, just personal judgment. Some of our highest percentage capital gains came from units/Apartments. Marg
Units in capital cities are often the bedrock of large portfolios. Apartments are more affordable in inner ring suburbs and they can give you access to lower volatility markets with decent yield. You can then purchase discrete development blocks with separate and distinct objectives. This is how we have built our portfolio Cheers, John
Depends on your investment strategy, demographics for the area and location is the key. If you have a suburb where most families with kids live and 80% are houses, if you are an investor only (not a developer), would you buy then a unit of a house? If your strategy was to buy only in water/lifestyle suburbs in closer proximity to CBD, perhaps your limited finances would enable to buy only units then? Hence can you see there is no direct answer to answer what you buy, it is whether you are sticking to your investment strategy, demographics and whether the deal stacks up in numbers!
