Possibly the most obvious post of the week.

Arborists like trees. Their report will identify defective / dangerous or species to avoid. Its like asking a vet for permission to put down a kennel of cute puppies. Its possible council and developer planned trees for retention when the land dev was approved. And have a plan for retention which you didnt check. You looked at the site plan and its trees and assumed tyhey could be cut ? Not so in a new estate. Usually the land dev has already tried that. They are likely on boundaries of the site. Councils never allow wholesale tree clearing but sometimes its unavoiadable with site levels, tree condition and placement. the land dev site would have had a tree & habitat plan.
