I should also mention the land slopes slightly from front to back (about 1m lower at the back) and is on concrete stumps, concrete slab under the whole house

We've had very ballpark figure from the chap who drew up some plans for us. He gave us two plans.

One is just to lift the house, keep everything "as is". House raise company gave me a ballpark figure of $90k to do the whole job including lifting, sliding, two sets of new stairs, hook services back up and slab. I don't know if that included battens, but that would be possibly another $5k+ (if it wasn't included in the loose figure we discussed).

Draftsman who drew up the plan to do what you've described (internal steps from new front door at ground level, kitchen, living, laundry, powder room downstairs and four bedrooms, one family bathroom one ensuite upstairs, said this would be more like $300k.

We have just been through the lift process. In the end we went with Wards Houseraising. He was excellent and cannot recommend John enough. We got quotes from all the usual suspects, but in the end we went with John. They weren't the cheapest, but the for the price difference we got quality steel (Australian and not Chinese imported). It was only the difference of a few thousand, but totally worth it. As owner builder too, it was one less hassle knowing he was on board with what we wanted. The price will depend on how high your lift is and what distance the spans are - with our house, it will be mostly open plan, so bigger steel beams which bumped up the price so it might not be easy to compare prices.

Would you mind sharing more info, price or even pics?
I'm very interested in doing this but have never met anyone who has done it, seems to be a lot more common in qld/nsw than vic.

    Thanks

I also would love to know what you are paying for this. I've had a ballpark figure over the phone with the person looking at google maps as we spoke.

I was given ballpark $90k for disconnection of services, lift to legal height, slide to new position on the block, slab, new front and back stairs, reconnection of services. I can't recall if that included battens but that will only be about $5k extra if I have to pay for it.

Glad the thread has been reopened recently. We are about to embark on a journey of lifting and sliding a 1920s beauty. It's on a sloping block (2.5m slope from front to back of the house). Already partly excavated.

    I've enjoyed reading this thread!

    That's a beauty alright!
What's the plan for the lower level? Will there be a retaining wall to the front and side walls?

Hi VBPlease - great name. ;-)

The plan with the lower level will be retaining walls at the front and down the sides. Then she will be filled in living, laundry, bathroom and bedrooms. Very exciting times ahead.

The company she used is Altitude 9 and they were pretty happy with them. They didn't raise, but restumped.

Ahhh... It looked familiar. I went to an auction in Holland Park and wondered if this was it. But I grew up in Balmoral and lived there after I was married, so probably recognise if from my days living there. Thanks. :)

Hi @Brittany Grace any chance you can provide a bit of a break down of figures for the raise? How's it coming along? Are the beams in yet?
