An update ... paid in full 4 days before statement of claim expires. They lodged a copy of the receipt with the Justice System so apparently - unless either of us make any further claims, and because it never went to court - the action will die a natural death off the system in 9 months time.

I was surprised that I didn't have to do a "withdraw of claim" or notify the department it was actually paid.

I guess the lodgement of a receipt (clearly from you ??) satisfies the court that the debt has been settled.

    Well done!

Sounds like they had been there before and know what they're doing...

Lodgement of receipt had to come from them ... there was a form attached to the Statement of Claim they had to send in

Sorry if my post was ambiguous.

I meant that the fact that they had a receipt from you for the amount owed would satisfy the court.

It's good that they paid. The slate has been wiped clean. But their integrity is mud and that will take a lot of effort to clean.

If you knew a place which could supply a large quantity of good quality garlic which you ate the night before, that could be quite a fragrant dinner.

    Sounds good, Lizzie.

This sounds equally as good next time they ring up:-

    "CASH WITH ORDER!"

I'm glad you won this round Lizzie. They certainly do sound like they know exactly what they are doing. I'd be enjoying the satisfaction that they didn't get away with screwing you over and doubly enjoying that they are probably fuming that you were smarter than them and a wake up to their delaying tactics. Well done... :D.
