I read the novel a few years ago for free. Andy Weir tried to get it published but was knocked back numerous times. So instead released it for free. This is it here,...

Turns out it was very popular and is now being made into a big budget movie directed by Ridley Scott and starring Matt Damon.

Can't wait for the movie. This is one for the hard science fiction fan. Anyone who thought '2001 a space odyssey' and '2010 odyssey two' were the greatest movies ever, and movies like star trek are a bit silly, like me, they should like the novel anyway? How the movie turns out I don't know?

Hope Andy Weir has made a heap of money from the movie rights. Or perhaps it will depend on how the movie goes? As far as Andy Weir goes, It's all a bit of a nice story of success.

    See ya's.

I listened to the audiobook, loved it so much I listened to it again. Made my wife listen to it and she loved it (and she's not into scifi). Bought the paperback for my Dad. We're planning on seeing the movie in Gold Class for my wife's birthday next month.

Fantastic story. Thanks for the link!

Rotten Tomatoes critics score is currently 96%, that's a HUGE score for RT, most of the movies I've enjoyed lately come around 50% on there. Looking forward to this one.

Is it just me, or has no none else noticed that Matt Damon keeps getting left behind on different planets far far away?

Thank you TC for the book. I downloaded and read the whole thing .....

What a great book to read. Once I started, I could not stop reading. Sure it is no shakespeare, and plenty of F word too, but hey it is such a great read I couldn't stop.

I think the movie will be great. But still worth reading the book.

I saw this thread last night before going to bed and downloaded the pdf. I was up till after 3am reading it and I think it will take all my willpower tonight to read just a chapter. Ha, as if 'just one chapter' ever happens!

Anyone's thoughts on reading the book before the movie?

Hmm. Yep it's gone. It worked when I first put it up? Perhaps with all the publicity the movies received in the last few days the free site has been inundated and someones pulled it?

    See ya's.

Yes, I saw that somebody had downloaded it. My fault for not downloading earlier. The pdf was available from one of those dodgy spam sites, but I eventually manage to buy it from Amazon, thanks.
