Regardless of what phone you get, pay firm attention to its perfornance and if no good, return within store returns policy timeframe. Much easier than the nonsense of sending your phone to the manufacturer for "investigation and testing"

pixel for sure. i am bias no doubt.. og nexus

always get update first and if u are game you even get developers/beta andriod before public release.
samsung is always late and too many bloatware..

pixel main problem.. no headphone jack..

and truewireless earphones are so expensive i cant justify them as a once in a while user

No phone is perfect. First and foremost I need my phone to be able to be reliable with making phonecalls. If phonecalls are unstable then I don't want the phone, regardless of the quality of the camera or other extra bits n pieces.

I found the Google Pixel had a lot of static noise during calls and dropped out constantly. That sort of behaviour in a phone is no good to me, and for this reason I returned it and got z Samsung. It isn't perfect either... drops out sometimes but generally only in areas where they are starting to put NBN infrastructure in.

I have had bad calls on my Pixel, but never to land lines; where there's been a deterioration in quality, and I comment, there's usually a pause, then "is that better?".

We've had a lot of Skype calls to our daughter in the US, but she's working in a summer camp where the wifi quality is really poor.

I understand the quality of S9 photos is also excellent; I had an impression that they also took extra wide shots.

I'm willing @KinG3o0o - I miss a separate headphone jack. Sure, it's possible to use an adaptor and use the recharging port, but often at night, I'd use headphones watching Netflix, when the battery is very low. I can't recharge and listen at the same time. I understand the S9 has kept the headphone jack.

I find the colours on the Pixel superb. I now watch Netflix on my phone in preference to the iPad.

Well, I was paying $40/MTH on Vodafone for 15GB and had to bring my own phone.
Now I'm paying $49/MTH with Telstra for 17.GB and they gave me the phone. Almost free :)
The 2 year contract with Telstra comes up less than the cost of just the phone.

I had a pixel 1. Wonderful phone. Version 2 was too expensive. So, I'm back to Galaxies.

where you reckon one plus get their software from ?

lol tbh oneplus was a real good alternative.. but only grey dealers for oneplus 6/6s.. another problem is they have a new phone every 6 months rather than a yearly cycle.

I've never had a problem with OnePlus buying from grey dealers, 8gb ram, snapdragon 845, 128gb it's hard to beat and cheaper than Pixel

I had an incipio dual layer case for my pixel xl and thoroughly recommend it. I dropped that thing so many times face first on roads etc from head height and it's landed on corners too and still looks new without any screen protector ever being used

Otten screen protectors mean proper cases with slight lips around the entire screen don't fit but that proper case would provide a much more robust solution than a less protective case and a screen protector. Also gorilla glass etc doesn't scratch as easily as old phones used to so unless you're constantly letting it rub against sharp items in pockets or cars or whatever then you're unlikely to cause any visible damage to screen

Spigen have a couple of good cases in their range too and a couple of average ones but would also do the job. Look for a drop tested mil spec certification of at least 1.8m, often available with more, that is still slim and comfortable

FYI @Eric Wu if you're still looking for one too

I used to be in this industry for a bit supplying our own brands and other brands of cases and accessories to jbhifi, HN etc
