    Hi all,

I've always used BMT but they've put their costs up recently. I just had 18 reports done for me and my family, but now I need one more done and they're wanting to charge me a higher price which is annoying me. They're not budging.

Are there cheaper alternative providers that are just as good? The report I need done is in Logan area.

    Thanks

I had a bad experience with BMT many years ago now, and won't use them. I'm not sure what price you paid, or were expecting, but I've used Depreciator many times with good results.

Another vote for @Depreciator - They've always done ours and we've always been very happy with the service.

    Washington Brown
    Deppro are all OK.

My tip - Dont use one based on a cheap price. There are some rubbish ones out there.

Hello, Jmillar. While I couldn't see this being done without a good reason, if you would like to message me with the reference number then I'll look into this for you.

Are reports cheaper these days if you only can claim capital costs?

Ps depreciator are great. Always quick, and often same day return for free updates. I like Justine too !

I would not imagine so. Many people can claim plant & equipment deductions. There may be slightly less effort but determining whether the specific property AND taxpayer arent eligible and also which specific items may be eligible still requires review and determining. Its probably more fiddling about and more specific detail than previously.

In the tax world its like saying you have stopped using one of your three IPs as a rental and now reside in it...Will it make your tax cheaper? Possibly but hardly noticable. And perhaps same cost as that year needs apportioning for some costs. The cost difference would be marginal since 90%+ of the effort is still required and more careful attention to other details

Ask the lucky one, has found a way to depreciate the council expenses, neighbors unclaimed amounts, a few past grants even if you did not take them up (k rudd insulation etc)

And for members here, there is a special.... lol

I use Washington Brown, except when they have the actual build costs from the developer - I don't like how the numbers in those end up... Go to BMT because their reports are nicely binded. WB tried to charge me to bind the report, so I just printed a b/w PDF and put a paperclip on it.
