I wonder how high are insurance premiums on residential housing in regions like that.

I'm not sure if there is an extra charge for fire prone areas as the premium is based on rebuid cost.
There is an additional cost to building a house and making it fire safe however so the premiums may be increased due to the extra building costs.
Perhaps one of the insurance experts here can comment further.

@barnes fairly normal, no more expensive than any other resi property we've had.

Strange. I went there to have a look today. Everything is beautiful except for the fire danger. If the fire breaks out, there is little chance to avoid it, trees are close to houses. So I thought this could top up the building insurance at least in insuring the chance of fire damage.
There is a bigger chance to burn down in the hills, than Hallet Cove as an example.
    Thanks for the info.

If a tsunami hits Adelaide Hallet cove will be under water. :)
The hills areas may be ok.

Hallett Cove is on a cliff so it'd probably be safe - Grange, Henley Beach maybe in trouble

Tsunamis can go over cliffs they can take down high rise buildings taller than the cliff at Hallet cove.

I guess it depends on the tsunami. Do we have any tsunamiologists here?

Where is the Pacific Ring of Fire relative to Hallet Cove... Where is the Indonesian Archipelago, New Zealand, PNG or the Solomons reference Hallet Cove?
I think it might be relatively safe from tsunamis....:p
Other than a meteor strike but in that case we would have slightly more to worry about.

No idea about the Adelaide area, but there is evidence that at least one historic tsunami (in the last 10K years) in the Sydney area has flowed over 60m cliffs and run right back to the base of the Blue Mountains.

Of course the probability of it happening again in our life time is minuscule, but it's not zero.

I only buy top storey in high rise buildings for this very reason. EBM does not have tsunami cover for lower storeys.

Let's not forget the inner city areas, not as high fire risk as hills areas and relatively safe from tsunamis compared to beach areas but I believe the Adelaide city is built on a fault line - vague memory from geology at uni.....

    Earthquakes!!!!

Funny you all talk about insurance on tsunamis. My home insurance cover does not cover tsunamis. If my house ever get damaged because of the tsunami, then the whole Sydney is scr*wed. :D

I think you are all forgetting the real threat to Adelaide's coastal real estate market...

Who cares about Sydney in an Adelaide thread.... :))) Your house prices are worst than tsunamis.

If Hallet Cove will go under water, the new esplanade will be right at my doorstep. It'll be noisy then with all the bikes and cars. I wouldn't like that and will have to sell again. :(

Yea maybe some floating rooftops, couches and rubble going past your house may not be such a great sight either.
