LOL... I had to google Mornington. Thought it might have meant Morningside.

    It is near Mount Isa.

I lost interest at that stage. Hardly "Brisbane".

You have to justify it to others so that they also invest where you just did, stimulating CGs for you. That's the way propertychat is. :) Some are blatant about that. Others are more subtle in their spruiking.

I never noticed....LOL... how many spruiking threads do we have on Adelaide and to be fair how many on Brissy, Melb and Syd????
Now what we need to work out is which States actually did perform/boom? That's not hard to work out.

BTW do you really think that PC posters have that much power in the real estate world/market? seriously they can create a boom? I don't think so.

It has influence on a subset of investors.
Media would also look at this site.
It has good google rankings too.
I think it can make a small difference.

Noobie investor googles "property investment forum". Biggest thread: 'XXXX looks good in 2017'. That's going to have some influence.

.... but no one was spruiking Melb (no business members:)?) on PC and this market boomed, how did that happen?????

I once liked the topics which related to areas predicted to boom on SS, but not so on PC.

I am afraid its become a spruik feast and I don't have the stomach for too it. I wish we could have threads that provided meaningful discussions rather than self promoting business.. that's life I guess it now a commercial forum, another First World Problem.

I really don't like the idea of comparing state v state - doesn't make sense to me.

How about suburb/area v surburb/area from each state - that would be a lot more interesting.

    I agree

Rather than spruiking I would much prefer posts on actual deals that made money, or actual sales evidence on areas that achieved growth, this really adds value to the forum.

We know some of these markets are fragmented, this way we all learn

Sometimes people like to oversimplify the argument. Someone may be using a strategy in a certain market where he/she can do well while for another person that would be just spruiking the area/market as they don't see the opportunity or the stats don't reflect enough positivity or they are just simply not able to capitalise on that particular opportunity.

Investing to suit your own situation/strategies/goals is a highly personal undertaking imo. There is the general flow of where states are on the property clock etc and then there are 1000s of shades in-between up for grabs.

I learnt some time ago, that those genuinely successful in real estate and shares, don't tend to participate in the forums

I think there are quite a few successful investors on here who are generous enough with their time to share and help other newbies. That's one of the main reasons this is a successful forum imo.

    Me too.
For me Its all about cycles and timing, and its worked for me, perhaps a tweaking along the way wont hurt.

..... and I know this wont be a popular comment but I can see the signs with regards to markets changing and have my ducks lined up. 2017 will be a game changer for Syd and Melb, its normal for people/investors to ignore the signs happens all the time.
