Let’s stop and savour the fact that millions of Australians are currently entranced, outraged or bemused by a romance / scandal where the key protagonists are named ‘Gladys’ and ‘Daryl’. Struth!

NSW politics has always had a bad name. I guess we could call Eddie back in. Both major parties are tainted.

In the words of Meatloaf "....I would do anything for love but I won't do that".

I'm surprised by the lack of commentary here about the goings on in NSW & ICAC.

I think we have rats in the kitchen.......,

When the Berejiklian government confirmed the site of the Five Dock metro station in October, it emerged that properties linked to the Sidoti family were located within 100 metres of it, including one directly opposite the site.

At the announcement, Premier Gladys Berejiklian said she "never ever" had a discussion with Mr Sidoti about the location of a metro train station in his electorate of Drummoyne. source SMH.

When I first heard I thought about a thread with a poll, "who thinks Labour will win the next NSW election, or will Liberal hang on".....

Then common sense kicked in, based on Labour's previous policymaking they don't stand a chance to be voted in by any educated individual at the next election (finally I woke in a cold sweat shaking, knowing just how many uneducated voters there are...).

We all know that politicians are there for the money or notoriety (both).

You only have to look at the Badgery Creek Airport to know it's a stitch up, all the years of maybe here or there or....... As various parties (unrelated) bought land out there !
(*all established infrastructure is from the city outward, they could have bought Kurnell and built a mono rail to a Sydney Airports exchange and to port Botany for a pitance of what that western Syd airport will cost, and out there on the coast it could have run 24/7, and has a direct aviation fuel supply, but NO).

If you think politicians are in politics to do the right thing and look after fellow man/aussie you are sorely mistaken :p

Gladys will end up gone (sadly), labour will win the next NSW election, property investor's will bail prior to reforms, property will take a hit :(

I nearly spewed out my lunch the other day when reading the news and someone mentioned the secret love affairs was similar to Princess Diana and Major Hewitt affairs

Worse was someone said that the majority Oz people were thinking that the Premier was punching below her weight  seriously have no ideas what skills that "Daryl" has but for the Premier was still hanging to him after 2018 should be a big statement ;)

No judgement on their personal relationship but it does not seems right esp when Captain Smith did not stop his two players from cheating and had to accept the punishment as example

Because, at the end of the day, it's a nothing ... she had an on off romance with a guy that turned out to be a dick. We've all been there.

He said he never told her of his dealings She said he never told her of his dealings. The taped recordings show she knew nothing of his dealings.

Cripes. Hubby and I have lived together for over 20 years and still don't share everything ... usually because it's too boring.

The opposition leader is making a goose of herself by hammering on about ias if a poor relationship decision is the end of the world ... yet they themselves have had some doozies in the past

As far as Gladys is concerned, if a politician from the socialist left was attacked in the manner she was, including delving into personal life, then there would be a misogyny speech and the ME Too movement would be marching in the streets, but they have been very quiet.
There is one rule for the left, another for the right,

Eyebrows have been raised. But the question which has been raised is about whether her relationship influenced decisions. The relationship in itself is not at issue. But a relationship with a person who has admitted corruption, and which may have influenced decisions, is at issue. The ICAC enquiry is attempting to find out if that influence took place.

If nothing is proved, she is safe in the position. Her handling of the epidemic (except for Ruby Princess) has helped to ensure that her position is secure - unless undue influence is proved.

Edit: it probably wasn't a good judgement call to keep the relationship secret after he had been exposed for corruption. If everything was above board, it may have been better to come clean.

I also hate how the media constantly refer to it as an "affair" with "her lover" .... ffs it was a relationship with a partner!

While I don't like Gladys, I do feel quite sorry for her in this instance! None of this seems to be of her making, to me.
I guess the saying "if you lie with dogs, you get fleas" holds true.

Gladys is the star performer in Australia when it comes to managing the balance between Covid 19 and the economy.

We saw what happened to Gillard for a relationship that that started AND ended years before she even entered politics. Give it a rest. Gladys was in a secret close intimate relationship with a known corrupt and disgraced MP, while she was Premier of a state.

In private business she would be sacked for the relationship, no ifs not buts. Before you challenge me on this, you might want to do some reading on a manager having a secret relationship with a subordinate.

As I said there is one rule for the left and one for the right, and the treatment that Gladys has received has been disproportionate. Now I’m not going comment on secret relationships on the left side of politics ( I might get banned and it’s not my go) but it has occurred and gets hidden away.
What rules corporate Australia enforce is a matter for them.
The majority of people in NSW believe Gladys is doing a great job and changing to the alternative could be a disaster.

True, but not in the way you suggest IMO. If Gladys had been a Labor member of Dan Andrew's front bench she would have been torn to shreds by Vic LNP and the Murdoch press. When DA was offered an open goal at his press conference, rather than criticise he merely said something on the lines that she was someone with whom he'd worked very happily and left it at that.

If Premier vs MP is subordinate, well did she use her position of power on the MP? The acquaintance started many years earlier as well, before she was wearing the boots IIRC.
