..with the announcement of the state government budget, an extra 6000 public service jobs in qld. I suspect most will be in Brisbane.
This is good and bad as it puts greater strain on state government bank accounts among other things... However, good for demand and should see more growth in housing. These will be stable jobs ( govt) and salaries for state govt jobs are a bit less but not much less than private sector on average.
Timeframe is 12 months. Get in quick before public service takes more than just your taxes - I'll have a house with that thanks. :)Queensland 2017-18 budget shows an additional 6000 public servants

so basically we're adding 6,000 people to the most efficient workforce in the country...

    meanwhile, in other budget reports...

"Remove coal royalties, which have spiked in the past year because of higher prices, and it's a grim outlook. Business investment is predicted to be zero (that's right, no growth) next financial year and the average unemployment rate will stubbornly stay above 6 per cent. Employment growth will be an anaemic 1 per cent."

Yeah..this will most likely in one way or another go ahead...Brisbane needs stuff like this to relieve congestion and have better infrastructure to support a growing population. It needs the underlying infrastructure that enables growth.
It will be significantly worse if infrastructure does not keep up with pop growth.

It is cool to link both sides of the river too from a tourist and urban lifestyle pov. Have a coffee in wooloongabba then shoot through to the botanic gardens etc. More connected urban hubs.

I love state budget releases. It seems more than ever the common theme is "fighting for our fair share". This country is way too reliant on government spending.

yes, people and companies are looking for profitability and revenue growth...one source of money is the government.
There are many issues that make it very hard for organic growth - lack of competitiveness, slow global growth, even down to state levels, etc..this makes it easier to push the govt for $ if it cant be as easily gotten in the market.
One of the main bright spots is that populations are expected to grow in the top 4 main cities ( well..2 cities and 2 mining towns to be more accurate)...and this should see opportunity to capture more revenue but will also introduce more competition.
