Like this story, 21 public servants from QLD, Department of Education won the big one, 55 million. (part of a syndicate)
Apparently some were not aware of this when they rocked up for work.

    That's 2.6M each.

The question is, will they give up their day job? LOL

Hooray! That's akin to inheriting a house in an above average area of Sydney. Good win.

My work had a syndicate entry for this one as well, and I wasn't in the office on Thursday so missed out (wouldn't have entered anyway). Imagine being the guy/girl who works with these people and missed out!

Some have already said they will retire. And why not? Ages of winners said to range from 20s to 60.

$2.6m will provide a very comfortable retirement even if invested conservatively.

With a family to support 2.6 m may not be enough to reitire. Semi retirement would be more likely.

That sort of money would certainly make life more comfortable.

Never understood why the government doesn't tax lotto winnings. They could slam you for 50% and no one would argue.

I would - it's not income. But I'd also complain about losing my social security benefits due to the assets test ;)

No problems, but I'll be claiming the cost of any lotto tickets I buy in my tax return.
