What are the latest due dates for an accountant to lodge 2016 tax return for personal names & trusts? Is it February 2017?

Obviously tax agents cannot do all client lodgements on that date so discussion with your tax a adviser is key as they must achieve other on time targets and if they dont their other clients are affected.

We have a setting that allows work completed now to be held for later lodgement.
You may be surprised how many clients think that they can hand you their work on 10th May and expect completion before the final date.

There is also a further date after 15th May that allows lodgement into early June but it comes with a requirement to pay on lodgement and not wait for a notice.

    A setting haha?
You mean the "signed but don't lodge until 15/5 tray"...

As for workflow, we schedule 70% capacity workload for 6 months in advance, from this we can consult with clients and chop and change to meet their expectations.
There are always clients who have annual bank reviews and covernants which therefore require work to be done early the subsequent financial year but communication is key for me.

Try telling 40 clients about the difference on 10th May.
