When is the latest due date for 2015 tax returns for individuals & for SMSF to be lodged? It's taken nearly a year since we gave it to our accountant and it's still not complete! The auditing of the SMSF hasn't even been done & lots of our emails gets ignored when asked if the corrections have been done or when the tax is due. On the other hand all the trusts have been done a couple of months ago.

That website was down over the weekend however it's back up now. According to the site, 5th June is the latest unless the accountant has applied for a deferral of lodgement for a later date than that. So if the accountant has applied for a deferral of lodgement, what would be latest date? Any accountants out there able to comment? Thanks

Why not just get a new accountant? Yours doesn't seem to be doing the job for you. No point asking others to advise for free and then hope your accountant follows the instructions. I would imagine that @Paul@PFI would be able to take you on...

There is definitely a communication issue or concern here. If your 2015 returns are not lodged by 30 June there is a automatic loss of agent concessions and 2016 returns would then be required to be lodged before 31 October. Penalties apply already unless you pay any estimated tax on lodgement under the early June final concession IF the agent has complied with lodgement of 85% of returns by 15th May. (Its possible they havent !!). SMSF trustees can be subject to very significant penalties.

Call the agent and ask the question and do not accept they are busy. Tell the reception person you are making a formal complaint to the Tax Practitioners Board and want to get their side of the story first. Questions to ask:
    1. When will you send us the completed matters
    2. Why the delay
    3. Why are you not replying to me

The three questions should support referring the agent to the Tax Practitioners Board and their professional body.

When all is done - adios !!
