They would have to pay me at least $15M to move to the NT.

IMHO, the NT is a great place to visit but I wouldn’t want to live there ;).

    Bit like Sydney .

Would have to be $50k + moving expenses to get people to move.

When we moved and hour inland - apparently to the country - 6 years ago, solicitor pointed out out we were eligible for a $7k "moving to the country" government rebate off stamp duty that we didn't know about but happily took ... so $15k to go across country and stay is ... nah

Funnily enough I was looking at rentals in Darwin just the other day as winter in Cairns is still a bit chilly for me :D

But like Lizzie, I would want a lot more than $15k to make it worth my while. Too established (and happy) in Cairns for the time being.

It's not enough - wouldn't even cover moving costs. It might convince someone who was about to head up anyways, but that's it i reckon.

Ha! I always wanted to go visit Darwin! No excuses now....

On a serious note however, NT is supposed to be amazing! I have an auntie that lives there :):):)

It's a clever move. They get families willing to work and families looking for work, willing to move, get a bit of a head start. I thought it might just be a 15k incentive to anyone. It's targeted which is smart.

Do I think it will work? It might have a small impact. Proving a house for low rent for the first twelve months, in a good location, as well would be another incentive I would add to increase appeal.

I don't think Druittites will take the bait.

If that $15K was up front, sure, they'd swarm in over night and then head back to Mt Druitt within 3 days after they've done their dough.

Nah, there's the heat, humidity, rain, high prices and the...oops can't say that as it's not politically correct.

I'll forgo the $15k subsidy amount if I was guaranteed a role as a Chief Executive or Managing Director with the salary and bonuses attached.
