Billion-dollar revamp on the way for Mt Druitt CBD

It's going to create 15,000 new jobs (I doubt it will include many locals).

Is this the shot in the arm the area needs or will it be a boot to the backside? That is more slum full of scum.

I'm hoping it will be good for the area and cause house prices to rise. Could be the next hot spot for investors!

Are they going to have a competition to rename Blood Alley?

In old speak, 1 person /10 m2 would be a 150,000 m2 of office space but now that's more than doubled. That's about the size of the 3 towers at Barangaroo (and no Crown Casino).

Looks definitely like a gentrification change could be on the horizon for sure

So the Westfields in that picture is going to merge with the Rooty Hill RSL into one gigantic concrete blob that can be seen from the Moon?

How many poker machines could you fit in a building that size?

They need the extra room for social distancing. Pokies will be 4 metres from one another.

But seriously, 1.5 billion dollars is a lot of moolah for any area. This could be a game changer.

Its been approved but have they released a timeline on when it starts and when it's expected to be finished?

No. I can't find any timeline. I imagine it will take years. There's some serious building works to be done.

Yep and that's the problem in terms of investing there.

More information here: LEPs Online- Proposal Details

Sounds like 4000 new dwellings in Mt Druitt, and rezonings. More stuff being done to Blacktown than Mt Druitt, or that was the way I read it.

If they are going to put another 4000 dwellings into the area then I hope they do something about the traffic back up on Carlisle Ave, and double the railway bridge at Rooty Hill.

Will this override the 2015 LEP? There were some zonings which they had reverted to R2 back then, so wonder if they are reviewing the zonings all over again?

If Mount Druitt was in Melbourne. Which suburb would it be?
