There is no FBT for EVs for novated lease. This is new and was introduced in July 2023.

Leasing company claims GST back when they purchase the vehicle. The lease repayments for 1 year total $31,265 pre tax. On the highest 45% tax bracket, that reduces down to $17,196 after tax.

 

via employer leases EVs are 100% pre-tax, i dont know much about novated, wonder if its a govt deal or luck that they are able to do that

combustion cars you are lucky to get 50% pretax, i'd go EV for 100% but we go bush bashing so might not work out

 

Yes EVs are FBT free so very tax effective

You'll need to wait for the Rivian maybe. My EV is a highway princess - 25,000kms in 10mths

For those that bought the Dolphin, there's now an Australian supplier that sells various accessories. One of the most useful ones is probably the integrated dash cam.

DOLPHIN

Very easy to install, took me under half an hour. It integrates with BYD system, so you get some additional driving info recorded, that you don't get with third party cam, like the state of your lights, blinkers etc.
