    Hi all,

i'm looking to get a new rewards card for biz/personal use, question is for getting finance which is better? looking at getting a amex and their expensive one is just a charge card with no set limit you just need to pay off the balance each month.

the normal credit card etc i can reduce the card limit from 100-50k to 5k when applying for a new home loan

i've been told that using a charge card is much harder as they will assess it on last 3 months of statements, and you'd have to prove the transactions etc 90-95% is biz. (not interested in getting seperate company credit card)

is that true? / a big headache?

Some will assess charge card at $0
Some will charge at peak debt over 3 month term
Please keep in mind some charge cards will sometimes allocate a limit

Problem is a unused credit limit of any type can become used and affect servicing. Many employees have a corporate AMEX / CBA card and the lender may ignore that if its solely work use. But its still issued in employee name. My wife has one. Its annoying but lenders always seem to ignore it once they verify she is JUST a card holder not the account holder. Still sits on her credit file. And she had to do the bank ID thing. I guess they see the issue that she can go buy a new iphone and work says - Its your problem.

Not unlike car packaging and a novated lease. The employee wears the debt. Even when the employer is presently meeting the repaymnets

good thing about normal credit card is you can reduce the limit before a application then increase after approval etc.

i saw on google someone comment on this topic "Policy varies bank to bank, however the one I work for factors it into the living expenses and not as a liability"

how big of a negative effect will it have on my borrowing capacity do you guys think? its worth approx $3k post tax pa having it compared to credit card option.
