Perth in general is popping off so it's hard to go wrong.

Pros of Eglinton: it's all new so maintenance shouldn't be a problem.

Cons: small blocks, far from everything. Walk score must be like 7/100

If/when Perth ever turns a corner it will be one of the first places to stagnate.

Alkimos or butler or jindalee are very comparable but will be better in the long run.

    Thanks @PerthEngineeringDraftyGuy , appreciate the response! What's a walkscore?
I am not from Perth, and my agent keeps telling me that People in Perth prefer staying away from the CBD given mostly are in Mining sector. The other attraction being closer to the beach. Is this logic correct for going far away from the city for investment?

I’ve been by there it’s a nice spot. The Amberton beach bar there is great and nice playground for kids. Not sure if there are really any shops or amenities around there or community vibe which Yanchep and Alkimos seem to have.

Distance to CBD isn’t an issue if you are on the coast. If it’s walking distance to the beach I think you can’t go wrong. Joondalup has everything most people need no need to go to CBD.

Personally I would only buy there if it’s within 500m of the beach.

Now we know why CBD/inner ring property prices are just a tiny fraction of those in [...checks atlas...] Eglinton, WA.

Born and bred in Perth, and moved interstate four years ago. We last lived walking distance to the city, then retired. Your agent is right, no-one really goes in to the city except to work. All the entertainment is out in the suburbs. Unless you need to go in for work you don’t need the city, and the suburban shopping centres have everything you need. Good luck in your new city!

there's one petrol station, one bottle shop, not much else. No matter what you need, you're driving a fair distance. My sister live near that kinkuna park label. She can barely even get takeaway delivered.

On the other hand, yanchep to the north, alkimos and buttler to the south enjoy similar distance to perth, same distance to coast, but way more access to daily requirements.

I was too generous. I just typed in a random eglinton address and it scored 0/100
